scenic bluff country with wooded hillsides and soaring
limestone outcroppings. The trailhead is located in
Fountain, just 18 miles south of the KOA. |

 |
The 13-mile long
blacktopped Douglas Trail that winds through forests
and fields. The trailhead is located just west of Highway
52 at the 55th Street NW exit. |

Mayo Clinic. Tour the
Mayo Clinic and the historical Mayo Foundation
Archives. See the original offices of the Mayo
Brothers at the famous Plummer Building. The clinic also
offers guided tours, documentary films and more.

Olmsted County Historical Center.
See the 1862 William Dee Log Cabin and Heritage Garden; the
George Stoppel Farm, a typical self-sufficient homesteaded farm;
the 1885 one room Hadley Valley School House; museum with
historical exhibits and changing displays; library and archives
of historical and genealogical documents; and the museum shops
featuring unique Minnesota-made products and souvenirs.

Historic Mayowood Mansion. The
former residence and home of 3 generations of the Mayo Family.
The mansion contains 48 rooms and is surrounded by lovely
gardens.

The Plummer House. This 49 room
home was modeled after an English Tudor residence, and is
located on 11 acres of park land all open to the public.

The Heritage House.
Experience the way of life of a middle class Midwestern family
one hundred years ago. This classic Victorian home is located in
Central Park, the city's original town square. Tours are
available for a nominal fee.

Mystery Cave. The longest cave in
Minnesota with over 12 miles of natural passages, Mystery Cave
is currently being operated as a handicapped accessible cave.
Visit the 47 degree year-round temperatures in the maze of caves
underneath this southeast Minnesota area. Tours offered daily at
Forestville State Park from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Niagara Cave. A short drive south
of Harmony on MN-139. This cave is geologically important in the
Southeast “drift less” area. Amish Country Buggies
and other horse drawn equipment are common sights. Guided tours
of the Amish settlement are available in Harmony. Also around
the area you will find 19 golf courses.
